Absolutely. The Delta Elite runs eight tiers instead of ten so the gap between each pair is wider, which is what lets dumbbells with bigger heads sit properly on every tier rather than only on the bottom few.
They will fit, but you would be paying for spacing you do not need. The Delta Elite exists to clear the wider heads on urethane and large-diameter dumbbells. If your heads are a normal size, the Delta 10-Tier holds ten pairs in the same footprint. If your set is heavy (50+ lb) as well as wide, look at the Alpha Elite — same footprint, shorter, and the one we would put your heaviest pairs on.
They take up the same floor space — the difference is height and what we would put on each. Both racks take heavy (50+ lb) dumbbells. The Alpha Elite is the shorter five-tier rack, and sitting lower it is where we would rather your heavy (50+ lb) pairs live. The Delta Elite stands taller and holds eight pairs, so choose it when you have more big-headed dumbbells than the Alpha Elite can take. Plenty of people run both.
It will. Heavy pairs (50+ lb) fit the Delta Elite and it carries them without any trouble, so this is a recommendation and not a limit. We would simply rather you did not: at 70 5/16" this is the tallest rack we build, and hoisting a 50+ lb pair up to the top tier is a lift you repeat every session. If you own both racks, put your wide-headed dumbbells on the Delta Elite and your heavy (50+ lb) pairs on the Alpha Elite, which takes the same floor space and stands 50 1/2" instead of 70 5/16". Either way, always load from lightest at the top to heaviest at the bottom.
Yes, and the math lands exactly. A 15 to 100 lb set in 5 lb steps is eighteen pairs, and one Delta Elite plus two Alpha Elites holds all eighteen with no horizontal rack anywhere. Put 15 to 50 lb on the Delta Elite, which is its full eight pairs, and its wider tier spacing is exactly what clears urethane heads that will not fit a standard vertical rack. Then 55 to 75 lb on one Alpha Elite and 80 to 100 lb on the second. That puts your heaviest pairs on the two shorter racks where they belong, and all three share the same footprint, so the whole set goes up in three tidy columns.
The handle slot has 4.32" of space — more room than a standard vertical rack. That extra clearance is there specifically to keep your fingers out of the way when racking and unracking.
The most commonly used dumbbells for this rack are hex, urethane, and Peloton square dumbbells. The DBRK8E fitting guide is being finalized.
